Econ Engineering Appoints Business Leader as NED

Econ appoint Tim Cross

Leading lawyer Tim Cross has been appointed as a non-executive director by Econ Engineering.

Tim is a real estate specialist who has enjoyed a successful 40 year legal career, most recently as managing partner at Langleys and then through its subsequent takeover by national firm Knights.

He will provide expert consultancy to the Econ board, primarily in relation to its property portfolio, and land acquisition and development strategy, as well as wider business matters.

Family-run Econ Engineering is the UK’s leading manufacturer of winter and highway maintenance vehicles, supplying 85% of the nation’s gritters.

Econ, which has been established for more than 55 years, has its main manufacturing base in Ripon in North Yorkshire, with engineering hubs in Alloa, Scotland, Sowerby, Thirsk, Halesworth, Suffolk and the Welsh capital of Cardiff.

Econ’s Managing Director Jonathan Lupton said Tim’s appointment as a non-executive director was a natural step following a long-standing advisory relationship with the business.

Tim has previously advised Econ on several projects, including the successful development of Canalside Business Park in Ripon.

Jonathan said: “Tim is a first rate operator and highly respected lawyer across the Yorkshire region and beyond. His relationship advising Econ goes back many years and we have always been impressed with his work, bringing valuable insight and unlocking strategic opportunities for the business.

“As Tim steps away from full-time legal practice we are pleased to secure his expertise as we push forward with our plans for future growth and success.”

Tim added: “First and foremost Econ is a true industry leader, and I am extremely honoured and proud to be taking on this exciting new role.

“I’m looking forward to working closely with Econ’s highly talented leadership team, providing senior counsel, support, and valuable broader experience and perspectives to the business.”
