Trelleborg Sealing Solutions will present its new extended range of material developments for safe beverage production, including a universally compliant elastomer material that meets the most comprehensive global food contact material regulations, at drinktec, in Munich, Germany, from September 12 to 16, 2022, in Hall B3 at Stand 426.

Trelleborg’s FoodPro® range also includes Ethylene Propylene Diene Rubber (EPDM) materials customized to meet the specific requirements of bottling plant manufacturers. These materials are engineered to provide resistance to the harsh cleaning processes and chemicals commonly used to clean and sterilize machinery with aggressive disinfectants or superheated steam, among other methods. Seals play a crucial role in the safe production of food and beverages, providing protection from contamination.

Martin Krüger, Area Sales Manager for Food, Beverage & Potable Water Applications at Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Germany, says: “The requirements for seals in the food and beverage industry are among the most demanding of all. A leak can lead to contamination or plant downtime. Materials must be able to withstand a variety of foods as well as cleaning agents. FoodPro® materials are proven to provide high sealing performance and are suitable for Cleaning in Place (CIP) and Sterilization in Place (SIP) processes in the beverage industry.”

As part of the supporting program of speakers at drinktec 2022, Dr. Petra Hilt, Global Compliance Manager for Food Contact Materials at Trelleborg will be giving a presentation entitled “Consumer safety: How to ensure rubber & plastic seals are suitable for food contact applications”, in Hall C6 at 10.30 am on September 16, 2022.

Dr. Petra Hilt, explains: “Sealing materials can release substances into the food. To protect consumers, it is important to make sure that materials used in food contact are suitable for these applications. We need to ensure compliance with the legal requirements for food contact materials, for example, the EU, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Chinese authorities. During my presentation, I will explain how to ensure that the materials are both safe for the consumer and compliant with globally relevant food contact regulations.”
