The innovative Hyperloop transport system can fundamentally change both passenger and goods transportation. At 1200 kilometres an hour, it is not only fast and efficient. It is also significantly more climate-friendly than other modes of transport. Challenges on the way to a large-scale roll-out will be discussed at Hypermotion Frankfurt from 14-16 September 2021.
Hyperloop sounds like something out of science fiction, but it may soon be reality. Virgin Hyperloop has already conducted the first successful test runs with passengers in the Las Vegas desert. Hyperloop Transportation Technology (HyperloopTT) and the Port of Hamburg terminal operator Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) are working on the HyperPort. With the solution, containers can be transported in the hyperloop to increase capacity and efficiency in ports and inland shipping.
How does the hyperloop work? It is a transport system that moves people and goods in capsules with high speed through tubes. Unlike conventional trains, the capsules do not travel on rails, but rather in a vacuum. Magnetic fields are used both to drive the trains and to stop them. This eliminates friction, allowing hyperloops to reach speeds of up to 1,200 kilometres an hour.
The technology is important for logistics companies in an age of same-day delivery, as goods can be transported quickly from A to B. But there are still some questions to be answered before hyperloops can be rolled out on a large scale: What is the best way to integrate hyperloop technology into existing transport systems? How can we create an international infrastructure? And, finally: How can their social relevance be increased?

Hyperloop Conference celebrates premiere at Hypermotion Frankfurt
The revolutionary transport system will have its own stage at the trade fair with the debut of the Hyperloop Conference on 16 September 2021. The conference brings together international players from the hyperloop ecosystem: transport companies, tube manufacturers, vacuum technology suppliers, port operators and infrastructure firms. The programme offers the industry the opportunity to find out about the latest developments and share ideas on the challenges that must be overcome for widespread implementation.
On the agenda are two exciting panel discussions on the topics “Challenges in the Hyperloop ecosystem for passenger transportation” and “Challenges in the Hyperloop ecosystem for freight transportation”. Participating companies will give insights into their business in master classes, high-profile keynotes such as those by Andreas Scheuer, Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, or Josh Giegel, CEO & Co-Founder of Virgin Hyperloop, will be held
While Hypermotion Frankfurt took part entirely in the digital realm in November 2020, this year it will be a hybrid event.
