BJSS has announced it is expanding its BJSS Academy programme, which supports school leavers, apprentices, university graduates, and people retraining or returning to work for a technology or consultancy career. Under the banner of “Next Step Forward”, the 2021/2022 BJSS Academy includes new streams in Data, Platform and Business Consultancy, and will be run in a hybrid model combining virtual and in-person working – replicating BJSS’ current working patterns.
“Anyone who works in a technology business knows one of the biggest challenges is growing talent. That’s why we’re excited to take the next Step Forward with the BJSS Academy and add these three new streams to the programme. Data, Platform and Business Consultancy are all massively growing areas in our business as well as in the wider industry, so it’s essential for us to home grow talent in these disciplines,” said Dan Webb, Head of Academy at BJSS.
Following a commitment in 2020 to fill 80 roles, BJSS is now looking to recruit over 200 people in the Academy’s 2021/2022 intake across all disciplines, including the existing Engineering stream. Data will cover competencies related to Data Engineering and Analysis, Platform will arm people with skills in the main cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform, and Business Consultancy will immerse people in the role of consultants within technology delivery.
This also marks the first year in which Apprenticeships will come under the BJSS Academy programme. Apprentices will go through their own four-week bootcamp-style training course and then receive full support from BJSS mentors to decide the necessary steps to further their skills and career progression within the business.
