Yorkshire Food Company Secures Export Deal to the US : Export deals worth £14 million have been secured by two Yorkshire businesses based in Leeds. Symington’s Ltd, which operates in the ambient food sector in the UK and internationally, has secured a deal with retail giant Walmart to sell its Naked Noodle brand in 3,000 stores across the US. Symington’s is targeting $10 million (£8 million) in retail sales value in the US over the next two years.
“Symington’s has enjoyed great success across both domestic and global markets. This deal with Walmart is fantastic news for our business, and reflective of the growing strength of our Naked brand. The relationship with Walmart holds huge potential for both companies. We are excited about building on this initial success into 2020 and beyond, as we look to emulate Naked’s phenomenal UK growth in the States,” said Scott Hall, export account manager at Symington’s.
Refund protection specialist Booking Protect has signed a new contract with a business in California, which is set to generate about £6 million of revenue over the next five years. The company’s specialist technology enables ticket retailers to offer customers the option of a refundable ticket. About 65 per cent of its turnover now comes from its exports to 11 countries.
“The support we’ve had from the Department of International Trade has been key to us winning this new contract and it sets us up to expand further into the US and the rest of the world knowing we have this support behind us. We have already created two further jobs off the back of this with more planned for the future which can only be good news for our business and the local community,” added Simon Mabb, chief executive of Booking Protect.
