The Made in the North East Awards Is Open for Entries

The Made in the North East Awards, Insider’s annual celebration of the region’s manufacturing sector, have been launched and entries are now sought for the ten awards, with three new categories introduced this year. The awards are part of a national suite of regional manufacturing events that Insider hosts throughout the years, ending with the final event – the Made in the UK Awards.

“It’s always an exciting time of the year when we launch the Made in the North East Awards. This year, with the region’s manufacturing sector performing so well – with production levels up, order books on the rise and growing export demands – the sector looks particularly buoyant,” said Philip Cunliffe, Insider’s regional business editor.

In their seventh year running, the Made in the North East Awards are recognised as the region’s premier awards for the manufacturing sector. Winning one of the categories is considered a great accolade and a reward for the excellence of manufacturers.

The ten categories for the Awards are: Digital Engineering/Technology Award; Apprentice of the Year Award; Manufacturing Innovation Award; Automotive Award; Export Award; Food & Drink Award; Manufacturing Apprenticeship/Training Scheme; Sustainable/Ethical Manufacturer Award; Manufacturer of the Year (under £25m); and Manufacturer of the Year (over £25m).

“We’re also excited to be adding two new award categories this year. We have added a Sustainable/Ethical Manufacturer Award to reflect the growing importance that the green agenda in having on the sector. And we’re delighted to be rewarding an individual apprentice in recognition of the contribution that the next generation of talent is making to the sector in the region,” Philip explained.

An independent panel of expert judges will look at all the submissions and determine the shortlists, which will be announced in September. The winners will be revealed at the awards dinner which will be taking place at Redworth Hall, Newton Aycliffe on 18 October 2018

The deadline for entries is Friday, the 10th of August 2018.
