Middlesbrough Council has received the plans for the development of the £55 million TeesAMP advanced manufacturing park, which will cover 11 hectares and create up to 1,000 jobs in the Tees Valley. The plans will be considered this month by Middlesbrough Council Planning and Development Committee.

“This is another exciting step in the formation of TeesAMP – a location of national and international significance,” said Geoff Hogg, managing director of site owners Cleveland Property Developments. “Once planning is secured we will begin the initial construction phase that is due to be completed in spring 2019. We are already in discussion with a number of companies about accommodation – and there will be several exciting announcements to come in the following weeks.”

For the project, Middlesbrough Council has provided £12.5 million investment, while Tees Valley Combined Authority has provided £7.6 million. The first phase of the development will see 180,000 sq ft of high quality manufacturing and office accommodation across 17 buildings.

The 11-hectare site is already home to TWI’s £10.8 million base, now home to the UK’s first Offshore Wind Validation Centre, which delivers research and validation services to offshore wind tower manufacturers, as well as to the oil and gas, subsea and other industrial sectors.
