Schmitz Cargobull Delivers New Assets to Armistead European Transport

Schmitz Cargobull, the German manufacturing company has delivered three new curtainsiders to the UK haulage company, Armistead European Transport. The Manufacturer of semi-trailers, trailers and truck bodies impressed the hauliers with their products’ longevity and robustness. This is not the first order that has been made by Armistead European Transport, purchasing a number of assets from the manufacturing company five years ago. It was the long life of these assets that has encouraged Armistead to return to Schmitz Cargobull.

The original Schmitz Cargobull trailers that were delivered to the UK haulier only required minimal maintenance, even though they have been put to work for half of a decade carrying out multi-drops from north Lancashire to locations in Germany. The trailers that are used by Armistead undergo a varied yet demanding schedule, travelling between the UK and Europe. Therefore, it is important that any new assets added to the company’s fleet is able to handle the different types of work carried out by the business.

Armistead were impressed at how well their existing fleet of trailers have been able to perform over the years and, when looking to improve and update their vehicles, they didn’t hesitate to select the German vehicle manufacturer again. Each of the new trailers that have been manufactured by Schmitz have been constructed on their MODULUS bolt-on bolt-off chassis that deliver enhanced strength as well as an axle load of up to 27 tonnes. The chassis construction also makes sure that it is easy to replace most of the components quickly if required. This construction means that the maintenance time is reduced and downtime for each vehicle is minimised. The trailers that have been delivered as a part of this order have also been manufactured to include Schmitz Cargobull’s ROTOS running gear, a system that works to prolong the life of brake pads and wheel bearings, and other contributor to minimise downtime and maintenance time.
