OE Electrics Expands Facility and Creates New Jobs

OE Electrics, the manufacturing and distributing company for electrical equipment has announced that they will be doubling the scale of their operations at their facility in Wakefield. OE Electrics works from OE House, which is a 66,000 sq. ft. unit that offers the company an energy efficient space from which to operate from. The facility is located at Calder Park and has allowed the electronics manufacturer to double their capacity and to diversify their operations into other new markets.

The project to expand OE Electrics’ operations has taken around £9 million of investment to complete. As part of this expansion plan, the company has received £500,000 of funding from the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership’s business growth programme. The Leeds City Region Enterprise partnership, or LEP, has also given an LEP Loan of £1 million which has been taken from the Growing Places Fund which has allowed the company to create a new facility that has been finished to a high energy saving specification. The environmentally friendly features of this new Wakefield facility includes LED lighting and solar panels.

The 144 new jobs that have been created by OE Electrics as a result of this expansion work will be recruited in the West Yorkshire area. OE House in Calder Park has the firm’s head office, warehouse and distributing and R&D operations for the manufacturing company. The investment that the company has received from the LEP has been great for the manufacturing company as it has allowed them to double their operation as well as expand into new sectors going forward.

To begin with OE Electrics manufactured products to be used in offices. The recent expansion that has led to the creation of nearly 150 jobs has allowed the company to look into applying their electrical products to the education, healthcare, leisure and passenger transport sectors.
