Five of the greatest modern engineering creations : Each year engineering breaks more and more boundaries and makes some truly incredible creation, here are five of the best recent creations you need to know about.

The first breath taking creation is The Cube located in London this residential structure was led by the engineering firm Engenuiti. The building is a is a ten-story building that combines a range of materials in the construction including timber, concrete and steel.

The second creation is the Ontario Celebration Zone Pavilion located in Toronto. This sports structure consists of two inflatable pavilions and is around 17,000-square foot structure. The structure is fire retardant and made from composite textiles which helps with its durability and strength.

The third structure is the JTI Headquarters located in Geneva, this ten-story building is made primarily from steel frame and has a public courtyard as well as a dynamic transport hub beneath it. The building has positively impacted the community as it has been the catalyst for further future developments in the area.

The fourth engineering feat is the transformation of the Birmingham New Street Station, this project cost around £670 million and transformed an old run down building in Birmingham into a modern state of the art transportation centre. The engineering firm that undertook the project was Atkins, the new station has returned to its glory days, the refurb has added two new entrances as well as multiple new lifts, platforms and escalators.

The fifth building is Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre located in Athens, this project was led by Expedition Engineering and OMETE, the aim behind it was sustainability.  The building is home to the National Library and the Greek National Opera and is covered in solar panels to lower its carbon foot print as well as having seismic base isolators which are sued to minimise earthquake damage.
