£500 million Hull Regeneration Project Enters Second Phase

A large scale regeneration project in Hull is into its second phase of construction under UK market leaders Keepmoat, as 142 new homes are set to be built on Portobello Street as part of the overall wider project which is costing around £500 million to complete.

Over the course of a 13-year period, this project is expected to lead to the creation of 4,000 new homes in the city, with companies such as Keepmoat, Strata, Home Group and Priority Space joining forces as a consortium which will oversee this ambition regeneration.

We are one of a minority of councils who continue in this difficult climate to secure funding and develop successful partnerships in order to build new affordable homes for rent.

Councillor John Black holds the city council’s portfolio for housing and infrastructure, and to celebrate the regeneration project moving on to the second phase of production a sod-cutting ceremony has been held with Black and the members of the consortium.

Keepmoat will be expected to provide as many as 93 homes in the city, with Portobello Plot being the host of a further 49 homes which will be developed by housing experts Home Group.

The vision and commitment of Hull City Council is remarkable and this is a fantastic project to be involved in said Martin Smithurst, the regional managing director for Keepmoat. Keepmoat has a proven track record in Hull, and we are delighted to be supporting the council to transform some of the run down areas of this great city.

So despite the ambitious and difficult nature of the tasks in hand, it looks like the consortium is well on track to complete this project.
