S Jones Conversions Showcases Innovative Approach at The Fire Safety Event

S Jones Conversions - The Fire Safety Event

S Jones Conversions, the specialist container conversion division of S Jones Containers, welcomed hundreds of visitors to its bright red modified 20ft side-opening container stand at The Fire Safety Event this year and has already confirmed it will be returning as an exhibitor in 2027 for the third time.

Over the course of three days at The Fire Safety Event 2026, S Jones Conversions’ expert in-house engineers Andrew Nicholls, Head of Conversions, and Oliver Smith, Technical Sales Engineer, met hundreds of show visitors hailing from different industries and sectors. They demonstrated how its range of innovative containerised solutions are designed to protect people, equipment, and infrastructure from fire, explosion, and electrical hazards including those posed by lithium-ion batteries.

The stand, itself a converted 20ft container, acted as a blank canvas allowing visitors to appreciate the possibilities of the space, which can be engineered to suit numerous different industrial uses. Using CAD models of its most popular products including battery storage and testing facilities, switchgear enclosures, water treatment facilities, compressor housing plus specialised mobile workshops and tool rooms, the team demonstrated how they can reconfigure and transform a standard shipping container. The fully immersive VR tours proved a popular way to bring the designs to life, letting visitors closely examine each unit’s internal layout, as well as the range of safety features and fire protection systems installed as standard.

Andrew Nicholls, Head of Conversions at S Jones Containers commented: “Perhaps unsurprisingly one topic continued to dominate our conversations at this year’s Fire Safety Show – the risks associated with storing lithium-ion batteries, especially as the technology continues to evolve with larger cell batteries become more prevalent. Enquires about our battery storage solutions accounted for around half of all the enquiries we received on the stand during the show.

“There is still a long way to go in terms of the regulations in this area but the fact that we’re having these conversations about the hazards of working with and storing lithium-ion batteries shows that awareness of the risks is growing across so many different industries. We’re proud to be playing our part in raising awareness and improving safety. Thank you to everyone who came to see us on the stand, we had a great show and we’re already looking forward to next year – we’ll be back with an even bigger stand – you won’t miss us!”

Earlier this year, S Jones Conversions unveiled its new tiered range of battery storage and testing units offering four options for different requirements. These range from its Green Battery Store, which provides an affordable solution, right up to its top tier Gold Battery Store, which is designed for the most high-risk applications including battery abuse testing for R&D institutions. All are engineered to suit the specific requirements of different industries and manufactured bespoke at its dedicated workshop in Aldridge, West Midlands.
