Scale-Up Accelerator to Showcase Next-Generation Battery Innovation at Battery Cells & Systems Expo 2026

Battery Cells & Systems Expo 2026, NEC Birmingham, July

A new initiative designed to help accelerate the commercial scaling of next-generation battery technologies will  launch at Battery Cells & Systems Expo 2026, taking place at the NEC Birmingham on 8th & 9th July 2026.

The Scale-Up Accelerator has been created to serve as a bridge between R&D and full commercialisation to  support innovators who have moved beyond prototype stage but require partnerships, investment and  customer engagement from the industry to scale up successfully.

By bringing together early-stage technology companies, companies with investors, OEMs and strategic industry  leaders, the programme is designed to develop the collaboration between them to help launch into real-world  production and application.

Connecting Innovators with Industry Leaders

The Scale-Up Accelerator connects scaling companies directly with a network of Industry Partners actively  seeking breakthrough technologies.

Confirmed Industry Partners include HSBC UK, BASF, CATL, CPI, FISC, UKRI, UKBIC, Swindell & Pearson and  Sourced Recruitment; A collective of potential customers, investors, research bodies and commercial partners  looking to shape the future of battery manufacturing and electrification.

Participation gives innovators maximum visibility with this partner network, creating opportunities for  investment discussions, commercial agreements, licensing partnerships and supply chain integration.

A Dedicated Platform for Scaling Technologies

As a Scale-Up Accelerator exhibitor, there are three features designed to maximise exposure and industry  engagement:

Scale-Up Pavilion – Subsidised exhibition stands for selected Innovators within a high-traffic feature  area

Scale-Up Gallery – Framed technology displays with voting from Industry Partners and event attendees to potentially win “Best New Technology”.

Scale-Up Sessions – A full day of spotlight presentations and expert-led guidance focused on scaling  challenges and commercial strategy

The programme has already confirmed innovators such as Celmetrix, HTMS, JIVA, Lios, The University of South  Wales and Rapid Powders, each bringing forward advanced solutions spanning materials innovation,  manufacturing processes and next-generation battery performance technologies.

Supporting the Future of Battery Technology & Electrification

Battery Cells & Systems Expo attracts senior leaders from battery cell manufacturers, materials and  component suppliers, OEMs, gigafactories, energy storage developers and leading research institutions. The  introduction of the Scale-Up Accelerator strengthens the event’s mission to support industrialisation,  accelerate innovation and build a resilient battery ecosystem.

“The Scale-Up Accelerator has been designed to move innovation beyond the lab and onto the production line,”  says Steve Bryan, Managing Director at Battery Cells & Systems Expo. “By bringing together innovators and the  organisations that can help scale them, we are creating a structured pathway from prototype to industrial  impact.”

Companies can participate in the programme as an Innovator, Industry Partner or Sponsor, with tailored  opportunities available at each level.
