Sentridge Control, an ABB Value Provider covering the Midlands, the North-West, and North Wales, has relocated its operations from two sites in Coventry and Stoke to a larger and better-equipped multi-purpose facility in Eccleshall, Staffordshire. The move will allow the company to further accelerate its recent rapid growth, and improve its coverage for ABB customers, while enhancing its engineering and service capabilities.
To support the company’s rapid continuing growth, and further improve its engineering offering for customers, ABB Value Provider Sentridge Control has relocated the bulk of its operations from its dual sites in Coventry and Stoke to a single site in Eccleshall. The new site boasts far more floorspace, including conference rooms, training facilities, and open plan offices, with easy access to the M6 motorway. The site also has considerable scope for future expansion of both the office space and workshop area.
First founded in Coventry in 1986, ABB Value Provider Sentridge Control celebrates 40 years in business in 2026. In 2000, the company was chosen by ABB as one of seven founding members of the ABB Drives Alliance, a precursor of the ABB Value Provider programme. As well as offering drive sales, the company has in significantly bolstered its engineering capabilities in recent years. Today, the company employs six full-time engineers, who carry out on-site installation and commissioning, and full turnkey engineering projects, as well as servicing drives at Sentridge’s in-house workshop.
While the move represents a shift in both geography and operations, Sentridge has ensured a seamless transition for its staff: “We’ve managed to retain everyone, and over the summer we welcomed two new apprentices to the team.” explains Glen Hickman, Managing Director. “After 40 years in Coventry, and 14 in Stoke, relocating is obviously bittersweet as we have lots of great memories from our old facilities. But the time is right, and we’re looking forward to taking the next step in our journey. As well as being a much nicer area, with better amenities for our staff, Eccleshall also opens up new possibilities for how we can better provide for our customers.”
“The facilities and location are great, and it’s easily accessible from the M6 motorway. It’s a modern, fresh environment with everything under one roof, and we’ve got a fabulous conference room that we can use for training, and for bringing customers on to site to show them what we do.”
According to Glen Hickman, the next step for Sentridge will be to recruit more technical staff, and continue to strengthen the engineering side of the business: “We had about a dozen people working across the Coventry and Stoke sites, including six engineers on the road, and we now have the space and facilities to easily double that. It means we can be more agile and flexible in meeting our customers’ needs. If someone rings us up and needs a drive, we can be there the same day and provide a truly end-to-end service, as well as carrying out more complex engineering projects for customers across our catchment area.”
“Our relationship with ABB continues to go from strength to strength.” adds Glen Hickman, “Customers know that we’re backed by the number one drive manufacturer in the world, and we have really good access to their products and technical expertise. If we need help with an application then we’ve got contacts in ABB’s factory, production, and R&D departments, and they’re all only a phone call away. When you’re backed by the best, it makes it much easier to go the extra mile for customers.”
According to Rory Hamilton, UK Channel Manager – Drives, ABB, the move opens up new possibilities for drive users: “Customers want local support, delivered by people who know the area and the market.” says Hamilton, “As one of ABB’s longest-standing UK partners, Sentridge are a great example of how the Value Provider network provides more than just products. Our trusted partners offer deep application knowledge, rapid response service, and end-to-end engineering support. We’re excited to take this next step with Sentridge, and further enhance our support for ABB customers”.
