“The Fuel and Emissions Savings are Nuts!”

Silverstone Park-based business Dumarey Green Power has helped eliminate diesel generators on a major central London construction site, saving more than 2,400 litres of fuel per week.

The project, at the Royal Mint site, used Dumarey Green Power’s Revolution Battery system – designed and manufactured by the company at the Park, where it employs 50 people.

The high-power battery stores energy and delivers it whenever a crane is operating, allowing the site to run without generators and freeing up vital space.

Working with London Tower Cranes on the restricted site, Dumarey Green Power addressed challenges including limited space, nearby rail lines, a small electricity supply and strict emissions rules that made traditional diesel generators impractical.

In its first month, the battery system saved more than 10,000 litres of diesel, avoiding over six tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

Electricity costs were kept to around £290 per week, while noise and fuel delivery traffic were also reduced. Charged via a standard mains connection, the battery ran continuously, supplying power without burning diesel.

Dumarey Green Power’s Managing Director Tobias Knichel believes deployment of the Revolution Battery system – which enabled replacing a 500kVA diesel generator with a 32A mains connection – marks a breakthrough for the construction industry.

Tobias enthused:

“The fuel and emissions savings are nuts!”

“This project proves that even the most demanding construction applications can be powered without diesel.”
