Cadillac Formula 1 ® Team personnel from the squad’s UK base at Silverstone Park are en route to Melbourne, Australia ahead of its first ever appearance in a Formula One Grand Prix.
The journey marks a significant milestone for F1’s newest team, which has spent the winter building and developing its inaugural car from its technical headquarters on the estate in collaboration with its two other bases in the USA.
Preparations for the team’s Grand Prix debut concluded last week with pre-season testing of its new car alongside rival teams in Bahrain. Drivers Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez worked through multiple race and qualifying simulations, aerodynamic validation, systems checks and FIA procedures.
Team Principal Graeme Lowdon commented: “We’ve got a good baseline package that sets us up well for our first race in Melbourne.
“It’s a massive achievement to get to where we are now, and I’m extremely grateful and proud of everyone in the team for all their hard work.”
The opening grand prix of the season in Melbourne – on 8 March and more than 10,000 miles from Silverstone Park – is also a reminder of the depth of F1 and wider motorsport expertise concentrated at the campus.
Many of the 90 businesses on site contribute to the sport’s engineering, manufacturing and supply‑chain ecosystem – from advanced materials and precision machining to data analysis, electronics, simulation and problem‑solving under pressure.
Amongst them is Bspoke Global Networks which provides IT infrastructure for most of the teams in the pit lane as well as Sky Sport’s live coverage of the races.
Another is Silverstone Composites which specialises in the manufacturing of complex carbon fibre componentry for teams on the F1 grid.
As the Cadillac Formula 1® Team enters F1 for the first time, it does so from a community whose technologies, skills and innovation feed directly into the global motorsport industry and make the fabled Motorsport Valley – at whose heart Silverstone Park is located – the envy of the world.
