After working with several large logistics businesses over the 2025 festive season, experts in projected health and safety signage, Projected Image, are encouraging manufacturers and warehouses to review their safety signage in advance of 2026 to help reduce workplace accidents over the next busy festive season.
In the lead-up to Christmas, manufacturing and warehousing environments face an increased risk of accidents. Seasonal decorations can create unexpected obstacles or disrupt normal workflows, and as UK retailers expect 20-40% more sales over the festive period, higher production volumes and new floor layouts in warehouses can contribute to a more hazardous working environment.
Plus, increased staffing levels and temporary workers can add to the challenges. In preparation for Christmas 2025, Amazon alone aimed to hire more than 15,000 seasonal positions, whilst Sainsbury’s and Argos recruited for 19,000 seasonal roles.
With this in mind, Projected Image encourage businesses to consider upgrading their safety signage well in advance of the 2026 festive season, ensuring workplaces are properly prepared ahead of time.
“Now it’s January, manufacturers and warehouses should consider their safety signage now in preparation for Christmas 2026” says Ian Spoors, Managing Director of Projected Image.
“The pressures of the festive season are also often compounded by traditional painted and printed signage, which can fade, wear or become easily overlooked over time, reducing their effectiveness when it matters most. Projected signage helps to combat these issues, with an increase in clients installing projected safety signs in preparation for busy seasonal periods.”
Projected safety signage uses bright LED projectors to display clear, high-visibility health and safety messages onto floors, walls and doors.
Unlike traditional safety signage, projected images do not wear away, fade or become damaged under heavy foot or vehicle traffic, making them particularly effective in busy industrial environments.
“So many workplaces experience increased activity over the festive period, so having the right signage in place early ensures sites are in the best possible position to minimise accidents when things get busy. By planning ahead and investing in more durable, visible projected signage solutions, manufacturers and warehouses can reduce risk, improve compliance and create safer working environments during the busiest times” adds Ian.
While accident rates tend to rise during the festive season, workplace safety remains a year-round concern.
According to the Labour Force Survey, 680,000 working people sustained a non-fatal injury at work in 2024–2025 – equivalent to more than 1,800 injuries every day.
“Although accidents do increase around Christmas, it’s vital that businesses have the right safety signage for their environment all year round. Projected signage provides a long-term solution that supports safer working practices – no matter the season” concludes Ian.
With over 25 years’ experience, Projected Image supply IP-rated LED gobo projectors designed specifically for industrial and warehouse environments.
The company are also the only business in the UK who design and manufacture bespoke gobo lenses in-house, ensuring safety messages are accurately scaled, clearly visible and tailored to each site’s specific requirements.
