Hoffmann SE Once Again Wins Silver Medal in the EcoVadis Sustainability Ranking

Hoffmann SE sustainability assessment by EcoVadis

At the end of 2024, Hoffmann SE once again underwent a sustainability assessment by EcoVadis and was able to defend its silver medal by increasing its points score. With a score of 67 points out of 100, the company (including all its subsidiaries) improved its performance compared to the previous year (63 points) and counts amongst the top 15 percent of all companies assessed by EcoVadis.

“When we at Hoffmann SE were rated by EcoVadis for the first time in 2022, we were immediately awarded a medal – and we have been able to continuously improve in the two subsequent years. Our aim is to further improve our sustainability performance over the next few years,” explains Holger Quade, Senior Director Compliance, Risk & Sustainability at Hoffmann SE. “Hoffmann continues to place a great deal of importance on environmental, social and governance topics. That’s why we will continue to forge ahead together with implementing our sustainability strategy in our defined fields of action in 2025, despite the challenges posed by the economy.”

In 2024, Hoffmann SE further increased the proportion of energy it uses which is from renewable sources and took additional measures to reduce CO2 emissions, again focussing on logistics and the fleet. The key performance indicator base and data quality were further improved and sustainability reporting expanded with more detailed ESG information.

Hoffmann already sources certified green power at all German sites, and when considered globally over 95 percent of the power it sources comes from renewable energy sources; shipping cartons are made from over 70 percent recycled cardboard; and it has added a sustainable product line, GARANT GreenPlus, to its range. This comprises chemical-technical products without hazard labels, safety gloves made from up to 78 percent recycled material and, since 2024, also machining tools made from 99 percent recycled carbide substrate. For further information on the sustainability activities of the Hoffmann Group, please see the annual Sustainability Publication: https://www.hoffmann-group.com/media/media/gb/downloads_12/Hoffmann_Nachhaltigkeitspublikation2024_EN_v1.1.pdf

The EcoVadis rating
The EcoVadis rating is one of the most prestigious international sustainability ratings. A scorecard is used to measure different indicators such as sustainable target-setting, activities implemented, certifications and controlling measures. Sustainability criteria are assessed along the entire value creation chain by industry, company size and geographical location. The rating is based on an overall score as well as four individual scores in the categories of environment, ethics, people and employment rights, plus sustainable procurement practices, thus facilitating comparison with other companies.
