Monmouth Scientific Drives Global Growth

Monmouth Scientific

Following a surge of investment across the last few years, Monmouth Scientific has laid the foundations for global growth.

On a mission to deliver controlled, clean environments, Monmouth Scientific (est. 2004) is one of the industry’s foremost specialists in the design, manufacture, and installation of clean air and containment solutions. Offering a broad range of leading products and solutions, the organisation manufactures everything from fume cupboards through to: biological safety cabinets, powder containment solutions, modular cleanrooms, laminar flow enclosures, and chemical storage – all of which being designed and built in Britain.

Beyond the core product capabilities, Monmouth Scientific is first and foremost a solutions provider. Delivering application-specific systems that are tailored around the individual needs of particular customers, the company has made a name for itself in the pairing of manufacturing and design expertise so as best to deliver agile, responsive, and bespoke solutions. It’s for this very reason that Monmouth Scientific is a leading supplier to life sciences, research, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing industries around the globe.

As of writing, Monmouth Scientific currently maintains Made in Britain accreditation, ISO 9001, Safe Contractor, and Public, Products & Employers Liability. Particularly in the case of its Made in Britain and ISO 9001 accreditations, these firmly demonstrate the firm’s commitment to delivering quality products and solutions, backed by globally recognised British manufacturing expertise. This is further backed up by a primarily UK-based supply chain and an incredibly careful selection process for all suppliers so as best to underpin the firm’s commitment to quality service.

To learn more about the unique strengths of Monmouth Scientific and where the organisation stands out amongst keen industry competition, we spoke with Mike Skidmore, Marketing Manager of Monmouth Scientific and Lewis Irish, Sales Director at Monmouth Scientific. Mike explained how the firm’s position within the globally-recognised SDI Group, coupled with Monmouth Scientific’s own in-house capabilities and expertise have been key contributors to the company’s success to-date.

“Our services extend beyond manufacturing, offering design consultancy, project management, installation, and ongoing service support, making us a full solutions provider,” added Lewis Irish. “Our advantage lies in our ability to combine technical expertise with flexible, customer-focused solutions. Monmouth Scientific offers in-house design and manufacturing in the UK, ensuring agility, bespoke solutions, and responsive service. Our position within the SDI Group also connects us to a wider ecosystem of specialist scientific and technology companies.

“Our lean manufacturing processes, combined with our skilled workforce, allow us to respond quickly to complex customer needs. Looking ahead, we aspire to expand into emerging markets such as cell and gene therapy, advanced pharmaceutical production, and semiconductor manufacturing — sectors that demand increasingly sophisticated clean air and containment technologies.”

Following on from Lewis’ comments, it’s fairly clear that Monmouth Scientific understands the value of its workforce and the level of flexibility that the team’s technical expertise brings to the table; in fact, the firm’s talent base is arguably the most critical component behind the bespoke nature of its products and solutions. Consequently, it should serve as no surprise that the firm is a known re-investor back into its people and a champion of professional excellence across the board. This can be seen in a wave of investment over the last few years.

Offering further insight, Lewis went on to explain: “Our people are at the centre of our business. We maintain our reputation through continuous training, development, and engagement — from specialist engineering training to leadership development and wellbeing initiatives. This ensures we retain a highly skilled, motivated, and safety-conscious workforce that delivers the highest standards for our customers.”

“In recent years, we have invested heavily in people and facilities,” continued Lewis. “We’ve grown our technical sales and engineering teams to support customers more closely, invested in advanced machinery and digital software, and moved into our new Somerset headquarters to increase capacity.”

Continuing Lewis’ comments on the investments made into advanced machinery and digital software, Monmouth Scientific has recently modernised operations through a digital design and quotation integration with Driveworks coupled with a continued trend of investment into new production facilities, in expanding assembly capabilities, and introducing new technologies designed to improve efficiencies across the board. We expect these investments to enable Monmouth Scientific to streamline and automate a number of sales and service processes so as best to drive productivity and more efficiently use the talent that it has.

Furthermore, as of July, 2025, Monmouth Scientific also launched a refreshed brand identity and website to reflect just how far the company has come. Via the new website, customers are able to enjoy a far more intuitive, user-first design scheme with significantly improved structure; the ultimate ambition of which is to support visitors in specifying the right clean air solutions with ease, creating a smoother customer experience.

Regarding the new brand and web infrastructure, Mike Skidmore said: “As industries become more advanced and more regulated, the need for reliable, accessible clean air solutions continues to grow.

“Our brand and website refresh ensures we’re not only meeting that demand with high-performance products but also with a digital experience that empowers engineers, specifiers and procurement teams to make informed decisions faster.”

As for Monmouth Scientific’s plans for the future, Mike shared how the organisation is currently looking to broaden its product and solution capabilities while pairing that with a conscious effort to improve the scope of networking on a global scale. As such, we certainly expect to see continued commercial growth for Monmouth Scientific as it breaks into new geographic markets, pioneers product and solution advances, and broadens its client book further.

Providing further clarity on current growth patterns, Lewis shared: “We are experiencing strong growth in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical markets, driven by demand for sterile and controlled environments. Advanced manufacturing and high-tech sectors, including electronics and aerospace, are also increasing their requirements for cleanroom facilities. These trends reflect wider global investment in life sciences, advanced therapies, and technology innovation.”

“In the short term, we aim to expand our Modular Cleanroom offering and continue developing our product range to respond to client needs,” added Lewis on the firm’s plans for the future. “Longer term, we are committed to becoming the partner of choice for clean air and containment across life sciences, pharmaceuticals, and advanced technology sectors worldwide.”
