S Jones Conversions, part of Walsall-based shipping container specialist S Jones Containers, is to host a seminar discussion on safety in lithium-ion battery innovation at the Battery Cells & Systems Expo with representatives from Warwick Manufacturing Group and the Fire Protection Association on Wednesday 9th July.
The panel-style discussion, entitled ‘Electric Revolution, Safety Evolution: Mastering Safety in Li-ion EV Battery Innovation’, will explore critical risks in EV battery manufacturing, testing, and storage, drawing on real-world incidents, fire science, and industry best practices. It will provide the event’s delegates with practical insights into battery storage design and advice on how to integrate safety into every stage.
S Jones Containers’ Head of Conversions Andrew Nicholls will host the session, joined by Dr Simon Jones, Chief Engineer – Energy Innovation Centre at Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), which is both an academic department at the University of Warwick and a High Value Manufacturing Catapult. WMG is playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of electric vehicle battery production in the UK through cutting-edge research and development.
George Edwardes, Technical Director at the Fire Protection Association (FPA), will also be bringing his expertise to the panel. The FPA is the UK’s leading fire safety organisation and is committed to setting the highest industry standards for fire research and testing, and publishes a wealth of fire safety and risk management guidance including on lithium-ion batteries.
The upcoming session closely follows S Jones Containers’ recent successful panel discussion at the Fire Safety Event in April, which saw unprecedented attendance, as the company continues to lead calls for improved battery safety processes.

The panel discussion will be taking place at the Battery Cells & Systems Expo at the NEC in Birmingham at 10am on Wednesday 9th July at The Interactive Sessions located on the Gallery Floor.
