Powering Your Future

MTC

MEM were in attendance at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) at the Robotics & Automation: Powering Your Future event on the 17-18 of June. This important conference and exhibition held at the MTC, Coventry brought together the leading ideas from start-ups to large multinationals, from researchers to users. It was great to see https://www.the-mtc.org/mtc-welcomes-cummins-new-member.

The event was across June 17th to 18th and was held at the Manufacturing Technology Centre in very sunny Coventry. It was centred around three key areas. The first was the inevitable Journey to automation and this was set out to explore how automation can tackle the productivity, labour, and skills challenges facing UK industries, helping businesses remain competitive and resilient. MEM can report that there were real-world success stories, practical roadmaps, and expert guidance. This meant that both SMEs and larger enterprises were able to gain enough knowledge to be able to adopt impactful automation solutions with minimal risk and disruption. The second was the future of work and this was a wider overview of many areas of new discovery in how advancements in AI and robotics actually lead to change. This covered aspects from dexterity, reasoning, and humanoid technologies and how they are shaping the future of industry. This aimed to help shape how business leaders can prepare to leverage these transformative technologies for future success. Not always the easiest area to approach, but the MTC tried to make this a little more accessible. Finally came the Tennyson influenced Bridging the valley of death and this set out to enable attendees to learn more about how innovation and pioneering technologies are addressing key industry challenges, from productivity and labour shortages to net zero and energy transition.

We also heard a very positive presentation from Dr Bernd Liepert looking at Rebuilding a Whole Europe Robotics Market. This was really the highlight and confirmed that in 2027 the European Robotics Forum will return to the UK after ten years in Birmingham.

Digital Transformation Specialist for Coventry & Warwickshire, Yunus Khalifa:

“I had the pleasure of attending the Robotics and Automation event at MTC on 17/06, and it was a good experience from start to finish.

The turnout was strong, and I was delighted by the level of interest and engagement at our stand throughout the day.

The talks and agenda were incredibly well-curated, each session offered genuinely valuable insights, allowing attendees to tailor their experience and dive into topics most relevant to them.

Our key objectives were lead generation, brand awareness, and communicating the benefits of our programme, and I’m thrilled with the traction we gained.

I was especially fortunate to be featured in the funding workshop and captured in the social media video, both of which will significantly help amplify our message to an even wider audience.”
