Funding Available to Support Welsh Businesses Enhance Skills

The Welsh Government has announced an innovative support programme to support Welsh businesses across Wales thrive and address known skills shortages.   

The Flexible Skills Programme,  provides financial support to help businesses train employees. This initiative is designed to empower Welsh businesses to invest in themselves and build a highly skilled workforce to drive forward growth.

The Flexible Skills Programme offers businesses the opportunity to receive funding for up to 50% of their training costs. This support will enable businesses to develop vital digital skills and tackle export-related skills challenges, accelerating their growth and success.

Training supported under the programme include:

  • Quality Tools: Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (FMEA), Process Flow Diagram; Control Plan, Process Capability, and Culture Change Programmes like train the trainer.
  • Technology: Robotics, Automation, Artificial Intelligence, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Electronics, Welding, and Vendor Training such as ABB.
  • Advanced Materials: Composites, Additive manufacture / 3D printing.
  • CAD/CAM: Catia, Solid Works, and specific training related to machine systems like MAZAK, Heidenheim, Fanuc.

This funding can be utilised for both face-to-face and online training, with no requirement to use a specific training provider, but all supported training must be accredited or meet recognised industry standards.
