Ramboll Appoints Neil Sansbury as Permanent UK Managing Director

Ramboll, the global architecture, engineering and sustainability consultancy, has this week announced that Neil Sansbury, who has been with the company since 2016, will assume the role of Managing Director for UK & Ireland on a permanent basis.

Neil brings considerable experience and in-depth knowledge of Ramboll’s operations in the UK & Ireland to the role of Managing Director, continuing Ramboll’s strategy drive to be ‘The Partner for Sustainable Change’. Neil has already played a key role in the recent acquisition of i3 Solutions, a leading data centre consultancy and is set to lead the business into an exciting period for the industry as the UK progresses towards its net zero targets and development as a low-carbon powerhouse.

Neil had previously held the role of Managing Director on an acting basis after taking over from Philippa Spence in July, when Philippa took on a global role leading Ramboll’s 3,000 strongglobal Environment & Health Division.

Prior to his role of acting Managing Director, Neil served as Ramboll’s Finance and Executive Director where he helped to steer the company through various external challenges. These hurdles included Brexit, the coronavirus pandemic, surging inflation, as well as the uncertainty that comes with a General Election and change of government.

Commenting on his permanent appointment as Ramboll’s Managing Director for UK & Ireland, Neil said: “There is no disguising that the market has been affected by the difficult economic climate, but we are pleased to be ending the year on a positive note and look forward to 2025. The next five years are critical for our climate, therefore we remain steadfastly committed to supporting our clients as our country transitions to net zero, ensuring lasting positive impacts for society and nature, and building in resilience to the impacts of climate change”.

Ramboll’s Chief Operating Officer Peter Heymann Andersen added: “With nearly a decade of experience at Ramboll, Neil has provided a firm and steady hand on the tiller in the UK & Ireland. We are delighted that he will be continuing in his role as Managing Director and I look forward to working closely with him to continue growing our reputation as a trusted partner to our clients.”
