Composites UK Announces Winners of the 2024 Industry Awards

The prestigious Composites UK Industry Awards 2024 took place at the National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham on 30th October, celebrating the remarkable achievements and innovations within the UK composites sector.

The awards honoured companies and individuals across a variety of categories, recognising their contributions to advancing composite technology, sustainability, and social responsibility.

The winners are:

  • Innovation in Composites Manufacture (sponsored by Zund): B&M Longworth Ltd – EMPHASIZING Project
  • Innovation in Composite Materials (sponsored by Adaptix): Lineat with SHD Composite Materials
  • Innovation in Composite Design (sponsored by Minden): Plyable
  • Sustainability Award: Net-Zero Initiative (sponsored by Busch): Jaguar Land Rover – SOCA Project
  • Sustainability Award: Circularity: Composite Braiding
  • Apprentice of the Year (sponsored by Marshall Slingsby Advanced Composites): James Coxon – McLaren
  • Social Impact Award & Employer of the Year (sponsored by Pegbox): Leybold
  • Special Recognition Award (sponsored by the National Composites Centre): Graham Harrison
  • Outstanding Contribution to the Composites Industry (sponsored by Zund): Prof Mike Hinton

Composites UK extends heartfelt congratulations to all the winners, whose groundbreaking work continues to set new standards for excellence and innovation across the composites industry. Composites UK would also like to thank the Advanced Engineering Show for sponsoring the Networking Reception at the event.

The evening included a tribute to Prof. Alan Banks, Chairman of Composites UK, who passed away in September, after a courageous fight with cancer. In his memory, attendees raised funds for Cancer Research UK and Farleigh Hospice, the charities chosen by his family. Additionally, the Association introduced a new honour, the Prof. Alan Banks Young Engineer of the Year Award, which will become part of the annual awards beginning in 2025.

The application process for next year’s awards will open in late spring 2025. All companies within the UK supply chain can enter themselves or nominate their employees and clients in the relevant categories. Join the Composites UK mailing list to receive more information when it’s released.
