Widget takes over HTC RE camera distribution

Widget takes over HTC RE camera distribution : Smartphone manufacturer HTC today announced that it has appointed tech distributer Widget to distribute its revolutionary new RE camera in the UK.

Launched in the UK in December 2014 the RE camera is set to revolutionise the way photos are taken by allowing users to take high definition photos and videos without a viewfinder. It is designed to fit your hand seamlessly and automatically turns on in your hand thanks to its touch screen sensor on the body, takes photos and videos at the press of a single button, and streams everything to your phone for easy editing and one-press sharing. The RE camera is also compatible with both Android and iOS devices* and its waterproof construction lets you shoot up to 1 meter underwater.

Peter Frolund, UK and Ireland General Manager, HTC, says of the device: The RE is another example of the ongoing commitment HTC has to brilliant design and innovation. Whether you’re at a gig, cycling with friends or family, or going to the pool, the RE was created with form factor and convenience in mind. Fitting perfectly in the hand and working with both iOS and Android devices, a RE lets you live life in the moment, not through the lens of a camera.

Widget specialises in bringing new products to market, having brought major brands such as TomTom, Fitbit and Flip Video to the UK. Its customers include all the major electronic retailers in the UK, Benelux and Scandinavia.

At Widget we know how to sell product, said Bart Hoorntje director of Widget UK Ltd and Now Mobile BV. We have helped our customers to build new categories of consumer electronics, bringing them tens of millions of pounds and euros of new sales in the process. We welcome this opportunity to do the same with a major manufacturer like HTC.

Frolund adds: We’re really happy to be working with Widget as our new distribution partner in the UK. Like HTC, Widget is a proactive company and we have been impressed with the wide scope of their work, which will create new opportunities for HTC to retail RE in both consumer electronics and lifestyle outlets.
The RE comes in a variety of colours and retails for €169 in most European countries and £139 in the UK.
