BAE Showcases Beowulf Vehicle at Eurosatory

BAE Systems’ hyper-mobile all-terrain vehicle Beowulf will be showcased in the configuration chosen for the U.S. Army’s Cold Weather All-Terrain Vehicle (CATV) program, at Eurosatory.

Beowulf is a dual body amphibious vehicle, with the greatest tactical mobility of any vehicle of its class. It boasts proven technology, designed to provide total operational support where other vehicles cannot. It is based upon battle-proven driveline technologies that underpin the BvS10 family of vehicles currently in service worldwide. This outstanding pedigree offers reliability, durability, and high system availability.

Suitable for a range of missions, including search and rescue, defence support to civilian authorities, and homeland defence, Beowulf’s modern, ergonomical design ensures soldiers’ operational effectiveness.

“Beowulf is a highly capable vehicle with exceptional performance in extremely challenging terrains such as the Arctic, desert and jungle environments, from the sea level to extreme altitude. We are proud to be able to provide soldiers with this solution,” said Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, managing director of BAE Systems Hägglunds, which designs and produces the Beowulf.

The new platform combines the best of the heritage from Bv206, Bv206S, and BvS10. Its highly configurable design provides built-in flexibility, that can support military operations, training missions, humanitarian aid and disaster relief, firefighting, and rescue operations.

The vehicle leverages commercial automotive technologies and ergonomics, resulting in increased crew comfort and a decreased maintenance burden. Using commercially available design elements in a flexible cabin delivers a modern design and intuitive user interface that make it ideal for situations where the BvS10 survivability and weaponry is not required.

The US Army selected Beowulf in 2022 as its replacement solution for Arctic operations, providing a modernized ground platform solution for extended operations and force projection in the region.
