EMS – Driving the Future of MedTech

EMS

Specialist DC motor and drive electronics supplier Electro Mechanical Systems (EMS) will be exhibiting at Medical Technology UK, taking place on March 13 to 14 at the Coventry Building Society Arena. EMS will showcase a range of reliable, highly precise motion solutions for the medical technology industry, including the new FAULHABER IEP3 incremental encoder and expanded linear actuator L-series.

Attracting more than 1,100 visitors and 120 exhibitors each year, Medical Technology UK is a unique event focusing only on the design, development and production of medical devices. Drawing in a wide range of visitors from medical device OEMs, including engineers, procurement specialists and senior executives, the show acts as a hub for professionals and tier one, two and three businesses across the medical device manufacturing supply chain.

As the sole distributor of FAULHABER products to the UK and Ireland, EMS will be on hand to showcase the latest in high-power drive system solutions. This includes the new IEP3 magnetic incremental encoder, designed specifically for the high operational requirements of medical devices. With a diameter of just eight millimetres, the new three-channel IEP3 incremental encoder can be characterised by its accurate positioning information from an incredibly compact space.

Offering resolutions of up to 10,000 lines per revolution, sophisticated error compensation algorithms and a high positional accuracy to 0.3 mechanical degrees (°m), the IEP3 offers both reliability and repeatability for positioning tasks demanding the highest levels of accuracy.

EMS will also showcase the latest additions to the FAULHABER L linear actuator series: the 06L, 08L and 10L actuators. With diameters ranging from just six to ten millimetres, these high-performance actuators are ideal for those requiring more compact actuators with no compromise on load.

A modifiable selection of complementary screw and nut types and sizes are available, as well as standard and high load versions of each model. As a result, actuators in the L-series provide a highly customisable solution for a broad range of medical applications.

“As a show focused on the medical design and manufacturing market, Medical Technology UK provides us with the ideal platform to showcase our catalogue of high precision drive systems,” explained Stewart Goulding, managing director of EMS. “And as the sole FAULHABER distributor to the UK and Ireland markets, we hope to showcase the benefits FAULHABER’s DC motors can bring to the sector and provide attendees with unique access to these products.

“The medical device industry faces a unique set of challenges across the design and manufacturing stages, with a constant need for improved performance, accuracy and robustness all within an ever-tightening space. We hope exhibiting at the show will enable us to demonstrate how our motion solutions can help solve these key engineering problems and allow us to support the future of medical devices with industry-leading drive systems.”
