Intensify your Digital Solutions

InnoTrans

The rail industry is aware of the benefits of digitalized rail operations, and Knorr-Bremse is steadily developing a broad range of data-driven smart solutions and functions. The company’s Digital Solutions exhibition space at InnoTrans (Main  Hall 1.2, Booth 250) will illustrate how digitized subsystems help train manufacturers and  operators achieve their objectives – dynamized traffic flow, greater energy and operational efficiency, optimized maintenance, and improved travel comfort.

Dr. Nicolas Lange, Member of the Executive Board of Knorr-Bremse AG with global  responsibility for the Rail division: “By developing market-leading solutions, Knorr-Bremse is aiming to become a major mover in shaping the rail system as a whole – and of course this  also applies to digitalization. Various train fleet characteristics such as safety, availability and  cost-efficiency are largely determined by efficient, high-performing subsystems. Knorr Bremse’s digital technologies and data-driven solutions make a major contribution to achieving related goals in fleet planning, rail operations and smart maintenance.”

Data2Action – adding value for customers in rail operations and smart maintenance

The InnoTrans booth’s Center Display will include a Data2Action installation standing over  four meters high and resembling a double helix, on which Knorr-Bremse will showcase the  full breadth of the company’s digital expertise. Almost all Knorr-Bremse system technologies  are now capable of acting as networked assets, collecting and analyzing operating data in  the cloud. For customers, features such as remote diagnostics, software-as-a-service (SaaS) and smart recommendations for action all add value in terms of planning reliability, higher  levels of efficiency and availability, as well as optimized maintenance.

On the stand, interactive displays will present a wide variety of actual customer projects in  multiple European countries – including projects involving the smart remote monitoring of  climate control systems, supervision of air supply systems, and condition monitoring of  braking and entrance systems.

Cybersecurity and other solutions that enhance operational safety and efficiency

Safety is part of Knorr-Bremse’s DNA – and Knorr-Bremse’s digital cybersecurity offerings  are a key factor in improving operations by making them more stable, secure and efficient (Improved Operations). This is true of many Knorr-Bremse solutions, including driver  assistance systems such as LEADER, which supports energy-efficient freight train  operations by making intelligent driving recommendations, or the Rail Computing &  Communication (RCC) systems supplied by Group brand Selectron, which act as control  hubs interconnecting all train subsystems. Visitors can also visit the Selectron booth at  InnoTrans to find out even more about train control solutions (Hall 27, Booth 470).

Knorr-Bremse systems and solutions must also meet increasingly stringent cybersecurity requirements – a trend in which Knorr-Bremse is playing a proactive, formative role by  creating highly secure system architectures. By providing security-certified, multi-layered,  “secure-by-design” cybersecurity solutions, Knorr-Bremse can effectively protect train fleets  and all their onboard subsystems (including brakes) against unauthorized external access.

Alongside the company’s own market-leading developments, Knorr-Bremse is also a driving  force behind the creation of new cybersecurity solutions as a member of industry-wide  partnerships and initiatives such as Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking. Knorr-Bremse is also  working with certification authorities such as Bureau Veritas with the aim of offering certified  cybersecurity solutions that cover the entire product lifecycle, from development to production  through to full-time operation.

Meet up with Knorr-Bremse at #TalentCorner
