Aston Martin £2.5m Hypercar Sales Exceeds Expectation

The most expensive road car ever produced in Britain has been twice oversubscribed, a few weeks ahead of its grand unveiling by Aston Martin.

The legendary manufacturer has worked in conjunction with the Red Bull racing team to produce the ‘hypercar’ and has been shown secretly to well-off Monaco customers.

The vehicle will cost £2.5m and will be able to go as quick as a Formula 1 car, with an initial batch of 100 being produced.

Aston Martin say they have already received substantial interest from around 200 customers based on this weekend’s initial forecast.

Based on the company’s close association with the James Bond film franchise, the scheme has been called ‘001’.

The organisation have also elected to re-enter the Formula 1 racing circuit following an absence of 55-years as part of its partnership with Red Bull.

This latest project has arrived at a time when Aston Martin is looking to stabilise itself on a more secure financial base.

The group has failed to post a profit for six years despite its high public profile and iconic status, but is about to expand its production facilities with a £200m investment.

After firstly offering the hypercar to existing customers who had purchased either a £1.5m Vulcan or a £1.2m 177 model, the company then encouraged high-profile customers visiting Moncao for the weekend’s Formula 1 event to view its latest design at a secret location.

Aston Martin’s Chief Designer, Marek Reichman, and Chief Executive, Andy Palmer, were understood to be in Monaco for the viewings.

The company are set to start taking £250,000 deposits up front from the beginning of June, with the first batch of models rolling off the Gaydon headquarters production line at the end of 2018.

The firm is also set to embark on a project of renewing the whole line up of its most popular cars.
