Rail Forum welcomed the Prime Minister’s support for apprentice and graduate training announced at Alstom in Derby, a city that has been home to UK train manufacturing for generations and the future Headquarters of Great British Railways.

Alstom has made a strong commitment to supporting both apprentices and graduates and alongside the other members of Derby College’s Rail Employment & Skills Board our industry is committed to supporting the government in addressing the challenge of young people Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEETS).

Elaine Clark, CEO of Rail Forum & Chair of the Rail Employment and Skills Board said:

“We welcome today’s commitment by the government to technical education and the importance of place in delivering this.

“With the other members of the Rail Employment & Skills Board, we are actively working with Derby College to inform their curriculum and inspire students to consider a rewarding career in rail.

“Rail Forum members across the country know that young people are the future of the railway, as we address an increasingly ageing workforce in our sector.”
